We begin the year with Genesis, the first book of the Bible, which tells how life on earth began and then continues with the early centuries of Earth’s history. The story continues in Exodus with the account of God’s chosen people leaving Egypt and journeying to the Promised Land.

April

During April, we finish reading Paul’s letters, followed by letters from other New Testament writers.Then we go back to the narrative books of the Old Testament, beginning with Joshua, which takes up the story of the Israelites after the death of Moses. For the next several months, we’ll continue reading the Old Testament narrative books in the order they appear in most Bibles.

December

As much of the world looks toward the Christmas season, our plan to read the Bible through in a year focuses first on Isaiah, which includes many prophecies that were fulfilled by Christ’s birth; then on the gospel of John, which tells the story of Christ from before the world’s creation to His resurrection; and finally on Revelation, in which John presents the visions he was given, including those that depict the end-times, Christ’s second coming, and the restoration of Earth as it was at Creation.
